Edvard Munch’s Studios

Edvard Munch’s Atelier is the building that was Munch’s Winter Studio at Ekely. The building has two studio spaces and a graphic workshop, and these are used all-year-round by visual artists.

Edvard Munch’s Atelier is a workplace for professional Norwegian and international artists who can rent the work spaces on a monthly basis. An open call  for rental applications is announced before the summer every year with a deadline of September 1 for rental the following year. The program for 2026 is set. An open call for studio rental in 2027 will be announced early summer 2026. 

The applications are processed by a jury appointed by the foundation’s board. Longer rental periods are given priority.

The graphics workshop

About 30 m² · Price NOK 3 000 per month + electricity costs for the period of NOK 500 per month + NOK 500 per user.

The graphics workshop has two Neckar presses, specially made furnishings and an etching / acid room with ventilation.

Meeting room – common room

Kitchen for tenants of the studios and for use by the foundation’s administration, board and others.
